"We may all have come on different ships, but we are in the same boat now . . ." [Martin Luther King, Jr.]
A great quote can be
picked up, throw it forward in time and wherever it lands - ten years from now, twenty or even 100 years from now, it will 'fit'.
Let's apply this quote, which is over 40 years old, to the 70 to 73 million baby boomers alive in the U.S. today. It's mind blowing to
think about how many different ships each of them traveled on.
The ships I am referring to is the 'ship of life'.
Close your eyes and think about your own ship. What was your ship like that has brought you to the place where you are standing, walking, running, cycling, relaxing, working right now?
Wouldn't you agree that the reality is, that every single
person's journey on their ship was different? ...and you are the result, thus far, from that ship you sailed in on. Get up, right now, and go look in the mirror at yourself. Are you happy with the 'result' you see in the mirror from your journey?
All of our ships have
gone through calm beautiful weather as well as torrential storms. Guess what . . .we have all discovered the exact same thing. Know what it is?
Life has a way of unfolding according to its own timetable, not ours. We have all been tossed around, but through this
turbulence and calm, goals are born that we have each set for ourselves. We have each steered our ships on different courses in life.
Now, today about 70 to 73 million of those ships are headed towards the same dock. Can you just imagine how massive this single boat looks as
each one of us steps on board?
"Look! Can you see the name of that ship?" Well, if you can't, I certainly can.
The name of that massive ship is called the "Retirement Ship."
Are you ready? Do you have the required baggage and documents to board? Some of you may already have your
documents and baggage neatly organized and ready, but so many of you do not!
